This breed is also called Colorpoint Persian, and looks very similar to Persian cats, but has blue eyes and colorpoint coloring (light body and dark face, paws, ears, tail). Their body is a little rounder and their legs are shorter, so it is more difficult for them to jump high like other cats. There are two types of this cat: doll face and peck face (these cats tend to have rounder faces). Himalayan cats appeared in the United States in 1950. Himalayans are gentle, docile, and friendly cats with a calm personality. Their fur is usually white, but they come in a variety of colors, including black, blue, lilac, chocolate, and red. The most difficult colors to produce are chocolate and lilac. It is more difficult because both parents must carry the gene for this color and it is a recessive trait.
