14 Unique Cat Breeds You Don't See Everyday

Egyptian Mau

The appearance of these cats has changed very little over the past 3,000 years since their appearance in Ancient Egypt. These cats have spotted coats as well as spotted skin. They are somewhat muscular and their hind legs are longer than their front legs, so when they stand upright they appear to be standing on their tiptoes. They are the fastest of all domestic cats and have long, dark stripes from their head to their tail. Egyptian Mau come in four colors: silver, bronze, black, and blue. In terms of personality, they are very loyal, playful, friendly, and prefer warm temperatures. They mark their territory by wagging their tails and also love to sing. Their odd voice sounds like a bird's chirp. The eye color of this breed can also change (between green and blue) depending on their mood.
