1. Genetics

Depression can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, stress, illness or health problems, and anxiety.
Each person has a unique combination of genes inherited from their parents. Some combinations are more likely to cause certain illnesses than others. Although
depression is rare due to genetics, if you have a parent or sibling who suffered from severe depression, you may be more likely to develop the disorder than the average person.
For many years, researchers have been conducting genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to discover genes that increase the risk of depression. These studies have identified more than 80 genetic loci associated with depression.
2. Stress
Stress is an inevitable response to the demands of life, but it can become unhealthy when it interferes with your daily functioning.
Everyone experiences stress at some point in their life. It can come from a variety of sources, including work, family, and relationships. Some
people are able to deal with stress well and find ways to cope with the demands of life. Unfortunately, for others, it can lead to an overwhelming feeling of overwhelm that can lead to depression after prolonged exposure to high levels of pressure.
3. Illness or health problems
Depression is often a symptom of another chronic illness, such as heart disease or cancer. Fortunately, these illnesses can be managed, and there are ways to help alleviate depression.
Symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness or hopelessness, lack of interest in sexual activity (low libido), and extreme fatigue. You may also notice changes in your appetite or weight, trouble sleeping, and feelings of guilt or low self-esteem.
Some medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism, can cause a depressed mood. Additionally, a head injury can also lead to mood swings.
4. Anxiety
Anxiety is a widespread mental health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Unfortunately, it can also lead to depression in people who are at high risk of developing it. Anxiety
disorders can be treated with medication or therapy (talk therapy). Medications for this condition include antidepressants and other medications that treat depression. Talk therapy can help you understand how anxiety is related to your thoughts and behaviors.
