Food allergies

If you have a food allergy, you may feel itchy when you eat something that causes an allergic reaction. The itching usually begins within minutes to hours of ingesting the allergen-causing food in your mouth or skin. Other signs may include hives, eczema, or other skin disorders.
Food allergies such as wheat, milk, egg, soy, and peanut are the most common types of food allergies. Symptoms may include itching, hives, swelling of the mouth/throat, digestive problems, and difficulty breathing.
Food intolerance
Most people experience itching at some point after eating certain foods. Cheese and milk can cause tummy itching, legumes can cause gas, and wine can make your mouth and throat itch.
Food intolerances are digestive problems caused by a lack of enzymes or a sensitivity to chemicals that are naturally present in some foods.
Oral allergy syndrome
If you have Oral Allergy Syndrome (also known as pollen food allergies or PFAS), you may experience itching and swelling in your mouth or throat after eating certain fruits, vegetables, nuts, and spices. This is because these foods contain proteins that are similar to the pollen proteins that cause allergic reactions in humans.
Preventing Oral Allergy Syndrome is the best way to protect yourself. First, eliminate the raw forms of these foods from your diet.
